BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie Review

Have you been wondering if there is a duo-stroller in the market with more to offer? Probably not, ‘cook your breakfast’ kind of more but perhaps more resilient performance on-road, off-road, with exercise-friendly provisions?

Well then, you might want to get comfy for this BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie.

An Overview of The BOB Revolution Flex Duallie 3.0

The BOB Revolution Flex Duallie 3.0 is a double stroller from the BOB Gear brand that manufactures various types of strollers and car seats. It is a jogger stroller with all the safety features you will need to burn some calories with your babies on board. Better still, it is built for all terrain and delivers a laudable performance.

If you choose to get yourself the BOB Flex Duallie, it is worth noting in advance that it weighs about 33.1 pounds or thereabouts depending on the model. Unfortunately, the brand discontinued its previous colorful prints and it is now only available in Lunar black and Graphite black. The colors are, however, elegantly executed.

The stroller has an adjustable handlebar, 3 detachable wheels, and 2 chairs that each have a canopy of their own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Like most parents, most of my postpartum memories are filled with long nights spent rocking my daughter to sleep and never-ending chores. I longed for the outdoors and just a change of scenery but I was often very anxious about whether I could handle getting around with my baby.

The BOB Revolution Duallie is designed for situations just like the one I was in. It makes getting around super easy with not just one but two babies.

If you have a second baby on the way or already have kids that are within the age and height limits, this would be a great stroller choice. With that being said, let’s go through some FAQs that you might have as we review this jogger stroller.

Who should use the BOB Flex 3.0 Duallie Stroller?

The features on this stroller make it ideal for parents with an infant and a toddler or twins that are in the toddler stage. It is not possible to use it for infant twins.

These combinations are tied to the fact that you need an infant car seat to use a stroller. However, this particular stroller only allows you to use one infant car seat at a time. As such, either both passengers are toddlers or one is an infant and the other is a toddler.

What is the difference between the BOB Revolution Flex and Pro Strollers?

The Pro edition of the BOB Revolution strollers is an improved version of the Duallie 3.0. It has extra features such as a handbrake, a higher weight limit, and mountain bike type of suspension.

I would recommend it if you would like a stroller that would serve you a bit longer given its higher weight limit. It also offers better steering control than the BOB Duallie 3.0.

Can you put two car seats on a BOB Duallie?

No. You can only use it with one car seat and It would have to be an infant car seat.

Features and Benefits of the BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie

I have high regard for brands that tell it like it is because right off the bat it lets you know what to expect from the product. To help you get some of that clarity on this double BOB Stroller, here is a tell-like-it-is analysis of its features.

Pushing Convenience

The BOB Revolution Duallie stroller pushes like a dream. Despite the weight of the seat and the passengers, there is very little resistance as you steer it. It has a 360° swivel front wheel which, in plain speak, turns easily in whatever direction you steer it in.

It also has a dial that you can use to align the front wheel just in case you feel it dragging to one side which is common when your babies are of different weights.

Overall? I would get this or recommend it even to moms in their postpartum phase because it does not require much effort to maneuver.

Seat Comfort

The first thing that stood out for me about the stroller seats is the open-cell foam padding. My child and I are lovers of the outdoors in the summer but strollers and car seats with poor breathability would wreak havoc on her skin.

Fortunately, this is not something you have to worry about with the BOB Flex Duallie, those open pores allow for free airflow in the fabric at all times.

The compression padding in itself is quite generous and likely to offer all the comfort your little ones may need. Moreover, it offers great support to help your babies sit in an upright position which is often a challenge with other strollers.

You will probably enjoy the one-hand seat recline feature as much as your tots will. It is easy to use and it allows you to recline one or both seats. This feature could be super helpful when one child is younger and tends to nap more.

The recline goes down to about 70° which is an almost fully flat position. Nevertheless, it is recommended that you keep your babies in upright positions when using this stroller in jogger mode. It is much safer for them in the event of any mishaps.

Safety Harness

The 5-point safety harness is padded and easy to adjust as your baby grows. My favorite part is that it is a no-rethread harness. It makes strapping your babies in and out a lot easier.

Stroller Wheels

If you have used other strollers before, you may have noticed that they are often built for city living. If you are planning some downtime out in the sticks, their performance dips to very low levels. In contrast, the BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie glides just as smoothly in tough terrain as it does on city sidewalks. You can use it at the beach, in the snow, and even at the park.

The BOB Revolution Duallie has one 12″ and two 16″ front and back tires respectively. They are all air-filled and can easily be removed when you need to store the stroller. The suspension system is designed in likeness to that of an athletic bike. This is likely why the stroller moves with such ease and offers 3-inch auto-forward travel unless you stop it.

I must confess that I have not always been keen on air-filled wheels because filling them up from time to time can be inconvenient. Still, there is more than enough room in this stroller to carry along a pump for emergencies. So, on that merit and the overall stability and versatility of the whole tire system, I would give the BOB Flex Duallie a chance.

Parking Brakes

A quality braking system is non-negotiable in any stroller but when it comes to jogger strollers, it is arguably the most important feature. You should not have to worry about the stroller getting away from you as you navigate your trail.

The BOB Duallie makes certain of this as it has a highly responsive braking system that you engage using your foot. The pedal/dial is located in the middle of a bar that would be right above your foot when standing behind the stroller. Yes, the BOB brand was also considerate enough to make it flip-flop friendly for those lazy afternoons on the beach or at the mall.

On the downside, there is no handbrake feature on this model which I feel would be helpful when jogging because it would be easier to engage. There is, however, a runaway safety strap on the right side of the handle that you can pull on to stop the stroller.

That said, if the handbrake is a must-have for you, perhaps the BOB Revolution Flex Pro would be a better option for you.

Car Seat Compatibility

If you are looking for a double stroller that is compatible with a wide variety of car seats, the BOB Double Jogging Stroller is ideal. It is compatible with infant seats from BOB Gear, Britax, Graco, Chicco, Nuna, Maxi Cosi, Cybex, and Peg Perego.

Nonetheless, you would require an adapter to form a travel system with any of these infant car seat brands. BOB Gear sells the adapters separately but I appreciate the fact that you would not have to go in search of them elsewhere. Convenience is a plus.

Keep in mind that you can only attach one infant car seat at a time.

Weight Limits

BOB Gear recommends the BOB Duallie for babies weighing a minimum of 5 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds per stroller seat. This stipulation is especially important to remember when you are ferrying one child in an infant car seat. The infant’s weight and that of the car seat should not exceed 50 pounds.

On the upside, the wheels on this stroller are very well positioned to provide equal weight distribution. They would only get overwhelmed if you exceed the weight limits.

Storage Basket and Pockets

Before I became a mom, I was a big fan of traveling light. It would often puzzle me why anyone would need so much storage space. Let’s just say, I learned my lesson and if there is any extra storage to be had, just show me where to sign.

In that regard, the BOB Revolution Flex Duallie wins my heart over each time I look at it. It has a spacious storage basket beneath the seats and, wait for it, 10 storage pockets. Yes, you read that right 10 pockets.

  • 2 mid-sized zippered pockets at the back flap of the stroller; one for each seat
  • 4 mesh pockets on the flap at the back of the stroller; two per seat
  • 4 total mesh slots/pockets inside the seat for storing baby stuff like snacks and toys; each seat has 2

You would have enough space to carry everything you need from extra diapers to pacifiers, keys, and cellphones. For the pockets inside the seating area, I would recommend using them for only child-safe items. More so if your child is a toddler and has the coordination to reach and tag at things.

Further, you may notice that the storage basket is somewhat obstructed by the horizontal bar at the bottom and the safety strap. Still, given as both obstacles are safety mechanisms, I would try not to let that rain on my extra storage parade.

Sun Canopies

According to the gospel of dermatologists and aestheticians, sunscreen is a literal lifesaver. You need it when it is sunny and, yes, even in the winter. Harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun only take a break in the night.

So, if you need that much protection, it would mean your baby needs way more. The catch is, you may understandably feel that it is too early to introduce their skin to sunscreen.

This is why the full-size UPF 50+ canopy on the BOB Duallie Flex 3.0 is so important. It keeps your baby protected from the harshness of the sun during your morning jogs, sunset strolls, and everything in between. It is also retractable if you feel that it is not necessary or your baby gets fussy under it.

I particularly like the fact that each seat has a canopy of its own and they work independently from each other. Additionally, on the back flap of each canopy, you will find a peek-a-boo window that allows you to check in on your tots as you go along. The window is opened by detaching magnetic buttons and pulling the fabric away which is a fast and quiet affair just in case either of your passengers is sleeping.

On the downside, like many other strollers and car seats, the canopy bunches up a bit untidily when it is retracted. If your toddler is tall, it may hamper their comfort around the headrest area.

Handlebar

BOB Gear went the extra mile to ensure that this is an equal opportunity stroller. Are you a short mom? No problem. You can adjust the handlebar lower to match your height. On the other hand, if you are a tall parent or of average height, you will likely find a handlebar position that suits your needs. The best part? There are 9 positions to choose from.

I would suggest that you take your time to find a handlebar position that works for you. It may take one or four rides but you will eventually be able to tell them apart from how comfortable you feel while steering. This is essential because a poor handlebar setting could cause you back pain and make it generally harder to steer the stroller with ease.

Folding and Portability

Folding this stroller is a two-step process and can be done with or without the wheels. It is not a complex procedure but it pales in comparison to a two-click collapsible duo-stroller like the Nuna Demi Grow. It also does not stay closed of its own volition but rather has to be secured using a strap. Suffice to say, folding could be better.

The BOB Revolution Flex Duallie weighs about 33.1 pounds and can be hard to carry on your own. It equally has a generally larger build and would require more space to store than a typical stroller. However, in its defense, this stroller offers so much more than a typical stroller, and thus its dimensions are justifiable.

On the upside, you would be happy to know that the Duallie 3.0 meets all the revised Disney theme park regulations – Disney approves!

Ease of Cleaning

It is wonderful to be able to take a stroller out with you wherever you go but that too presents a challenge, cleaning. As you jog through the park or the woods, soil and other debris get churned up as the tires roll.

Such dirt could splash onto the seats of the stroller and more so the basket storage section which is closest to the ground. The overall frame of the stroller and the seating areas will likely also have their fair share of dirt.

On one hand, it is frustrating that none of the stroller fabric is removable for cleaning. However, on the other, the fabric used is easy to clean with a cloth and some soapy lukewarm water. The footrest in the latest models is also made of firm plastic as opposed to fabric and it all takes is a quick wipedown to get it back to rights.

UPPABaby Vista V2 Stroller

UPPAbaby VISTA V2 Stroller - JORDAN (charcoal/silver/black leather)

If you need a stroller that can be used in multiple configurations, this would be a great fit. It can be used as a single or double stroller in addition to piggyback mode.

It comes with a bassinet and can also be paired with an infant car seat. It also allows for the use of two infant car seats in parent-facing or front-facing mode. It is, however, not a jogger stroller.

On price, you may need to stretch your budget about $270 more than what you would pay for the BOB Flex double stroller. You can check it out on Amazon or PishPoshBaby.

  • Enjoy a softer ride pushing one child (or three!) over any ground surface thanks to a new spring-action all-wheel suspension and slightly softer tires.
  • Extended canopies on the toddler seat and RumbleSeat accessory include zip out fabric that provide even more shade from the sun. Mesh panels also make it easy to peek in while adding airflow.
  • A higher back and deeper foot rest on the toddler seat provide added comfort for growing children

Mountain Buggy Duet Stroller

Mountain Buggy Duet V3 Buggy, Silver

This duet stroller is one of the most compact options in the market. It has the dimensions of a single stroller but is built for 2 babies. It is ideal for newborns including twins as it allows for the use of 2 infant seats or Mountain Buggy cots.

It also has a handbrake and one-hand folding technology. In an interesting twist, it costs exactly as much as the BOB Revolution. Check it out on Amazon or PishPoshBaby.

Mountain Buggy Duet V3 Buggy, Silver
  • SAME WIDTH AS A SINGLE STROLLER - at just 25" the Mountain Buggy Duet is the same width as a single stroller and fits through all standard doorways
  • NEWBORN READY - with dual, independent lie-flat seats, use of one or two car seats or the Mountain Buggy carry cot plus
  • CONTROL HAND BRAKE - for walking, jogging and going up and down hills in any weather

Conclusion

Buying a stroller is a great investment but a duo jogger stroller is a life-changing investment. It could add value to your parenting experience by helping you focus on your wellness a little more while still giving your babies the attention they need.

In summation, I would recommend the BOB Revolution Flex Duallie 3.0 if you:

  • Require a reliable all-terrain double stroller
  • Prioritize comfortable breathable seating for your babies
  • Prefer lots of storage space in a stroller
  • Have slightly larger storage space
  • Do not mind the absence of the handbrake system

If you reckon this is the best BOB double stroller for you and your little ones, check it out on Amazon, Walmart or PishPoshBaby.
